Hi everyone, i’ve been looking into what ssd’s i should get since my current one is dying out but i am just so confused at this point.
As the title says, i have an Aorus B450 Pro. it has two m.2 slots, one x4 and one x2.
I bought one recently (which i now know is B + M Key), but it didn’t work. It plugged into the slot just fine, no issues, apart from it not being detected by my system at all. not in the bios nor any tools. Whether the ssd is broken (bought new from a store) or it’s some other issue, i don’t know.
I can’t find any info on my mobo whether it only accepts B key or M key or whatever, only thing i know is that if i check online for compatible ssd’s, they show pretty much only m-key ssd’s (but then why did the b+m key ssd fit…)
if anybody knows how i can check which one my mobo actually accepts, id greatly appreciate it!
I assume B+M key SSDs are designed to fit into either type slots, but it depends on what protocol the SSD and slot are designed to use as to whether it’ll actually work.
It might have been the case that the B+M key SSD you bought was a relatively dated one and was still using the SATA protocol, which is pretty rare for that type of slot nowadays, and your motherboard’s m2 slots don’t support it. The SSD slots on your motherboard appear to both be designed for PCI-e NVMe protocol SSDs.
