I’ve been having trouble trying to figure out if I need to buy a router or not for my apartment. There is wifi and 1 ethernet port in the wall but I have 2 computers and a ps5 and like to do ethernet on all of them. When I tried plugging in the ethernet to my pc directly from the wall it says “ethernet doesn’t have a valid ip configuration”. But when I directly plug it into my ps5 it works great. I’ve tried a splitter with the same problems. Should I buy a router or am I out of luck?

I’d be pretty concerned not being in control of my own router. Pay for your own service, use your own equipment.

Not sure what you mean by “splitter”. You need a switch to plug in more than one device.

Also find out if your network port have been assigned to a single IP address.
