TL:DR would using say a 60W dual charger for my A72 and Watch 6 Classic cause damage when charging them simultaneously/separately?
I’ve recently got a Galsxy Watch 6 Classic which only came with the cable (wireless magnetic puck to USB-C) but luckily I also have a Galaxy A72 which is USB-C to USB-C and came with a plug so I’ve been swapping between charging my phone and watch but I’m looking at getting a plug with 2 USB-C slots so i can charge them both at the same time. My current plug is 15W but my phone can support 25W, and I don’t know about my Watch, would using say a 50 or 60W charger cause my devices damage?? The plugs I’ve been looking at (Anker and Belkin) say they split the power between both plugs when 2 devices are connected and delivery the full wattage when a single device is connected. So my concern is will I cause damage if the wattage of the output from the plug is higher than what the device is rated for (say when charging my phone singularly with 50-60W against its rated 25W)?
The device pulls what it needs, the (maximum) wattage doesn’t matter in such a case.
It’s fine, they’ll only request what they need.
