Hey there thanks for checking this out. I’ve got a strange issue, it being that the internet disconnects randomly often frequently back to back disconnecting 3-6 or more times back to back before being fine for a while then repeating the whole process. When it disconnects its not just the wifi my computer is using Ethernet and it goes out as well.

The modem is the isp’s (the isp is a local company) and is a little white box with what looks like a U on it, it has no other identifying info.

The main router (that I own) is a Netgear Nighthawk R6900v2 the isp said the issue could be my router so I have tried using another router I own a wavlink router I am unsure of the model of this one but can confirm its running the M33A8.V5030.191213 firmware which it says is the latest.

When the internet start having issues I run a speed test (using https://wifiman.com/) to try and tell when its going to become stable and have noticed that when it starts having issues the speed test come back with way more then what I pay for. Im supposed to get 50mb down 10up but have noticed this speed increasing to well over 200down and 80-100ish up during problematic moments when the issue stops for a while the speeds go back down to what I pay for.

Also the nighthawk router has a log’s feature and i’ve noticed that whenever problems start I get a [DoS attack: ACK Scan] error but googling this it seems its probably a false positive.

I have called the isp several times and they insist my connection is fine. They said the could send someone out on a service call that could be here monday but that they would charge me for it which moneys tight right now and I cant really afford. Thus my search for help. If theres any other info you need just ask and thank you for any and all help.

1st step: Plug directly into the modem and see if the issue persist. Preferably with more then one system (to rule out it being your computer).
