Hi, so somehow my computer failed last week. My msi motherboard indicated that the vga was “faulty or not found” so, I removed it and put it in the 2nd slot and I still saw no picture. I tested it with another graphic card but the system would still not post. Changed the ram, cleared cmos and still no luck so I borrowed the old motherboard from a friend, used my graphic card and it worked and “it posted”. However now, when I try to enter my admin account at log in it says “due security reasons you need to setup a new pin code”. I went thru all the steps just to be met with a error message and to try again which leads to the same error. Since I changed the motherboard, do I meed to format my pc?
The PIN is stored on the machine, or more specifically, the TPM on the motherboard. If you’ve changed the motherboard (and if it doesn’t have a TPM/supported TPM) it won’t know your pin. You should still be able to log in with username and password. Once in, remove the PIN logon option and try setting it up again.
