I am starting to get into getting more games on my PC, but I realized I am low on space. I am thinking of buying this pen drive: Amazon Basics 256GB Ultra Fast USB 3.1 Flash Drive.
The idea is that I would move the games to and from the flash drive to the laptop’s C: drive whenever I want to play one (not moving games frequently though). I am unknowledgeable when it comes to storage so tell me if the flash drive is too slow for this to work or if the idea is too stupid altogether.
If you want to go the USB drive route, a USB SSD over USB3 might be the most performant.
your idea is good but unfeasible for many games
because copying thousands of small files takes a lot more longer than copying a big, long file like a game iso
at worst you could have to wait like half an hour to copy a game to your pc, and maybe even more to recopy it to your flash drive
but if you’re low in cash and really wanna to… it would work just fine.
if i were to, what should i format the drive in? i heard there’s things like ntfs and exfat
