Literally the title. Due to my room being small, I have my PC sat on the carpet with a piece of wood separating it for obvious reasons. I have never had an issue with this setup until tonight where I vacuumed the section of carpet behind my pc and desk, went to type on my pc and my keyboard is dead. No light, no input, nothing.
The keyboard in question is a Razer Blackwidow 2014. In fact, this is the 2nd keyboard of this model I have had that has died in the same way. 1st incident was my fault as I was vacuuming the keyboard when it was switched on. Ok lesson learned, don’t vacuum your mechanical keyboard. This time I simply fucking hoovered some crumbs and such on the carpet where my PC was. During this time the metal of the computer never came in contact with the carpet, and the nozzle of the hoover hose pipe never went near the keyboard.
I even spliced the USB cable to make sure I didn’t knock the plug loose!
I mean it’s probably dead but how is this possible? I hoover my carpet where neither my PC or keyboard was making (virtually) no contact with the hoover or carpet and the next thing I know my keyboard just dies? Really?
I would pick a different keyboard
I’d just be better off buying some cheapo £3 Dell keyboard from Cex tomorrow morning.
Static electricity?
