I was playing a game on my laptop (Dell G15 Ryzen) when I heard a crackle noise coming from my laptop. It suddenly shut off and won’t turn back on after charging it. I have a photo which I’ll link below and it does look like something may have popped as there’s a small burn mark on a part of the motherboard and the casing that was directly next to that part. Some things we’ve tried include letting it sit and charging it for a bit. We’ve opened up the bottom and disconnected the battery, held the power for 30 seconds, and reconnected it and tried powering it on.

Here’s the photo of the motherboard when we opened it: https://imgur.com/a/pWccGN1

Realistically, we just want to get an idea of what the issue is to see if it’s something that fixable ourselves, or if we do have to send it in. It hasn’t been used extensively (occasional games that put it under light load), coursework, studying, etc. But it is past warranty.

Any help would really be extremely helpful as we’re figuring this out in pointing us in the right direction. We’re not opposed to taking it to get fixed somewhere, but we sort of just want to assess our options and figure out the next steps.

It looks like there’s an obvious burn mark around the component labeled LR5, the resolution however is too low for me to be able to see what blew up
