I bought a new psu because my old one would turn off whenever I played with a new cpu I also got. Thing is though, the new psu doesn’t even turn on, the fans turn on for like half a second and the cpu clicks but that’s it, it doesn’t power up or anything. Everything is plugged in right for sure and with the new cables and everything so I’m not sure what the problem is. Whenever I plug in the old psu everything works fine again which leads me to believe the problem is the new psu I got. I’m still kinda new to the whole pc scene so if you could I’d appreciate if you could try to simplify whatever advice you give.
first things first: is the 24p cable connected fully?
I’ve seen the same issue happen (lights on for a second) and it was a not fully inserted 24p connector.
Unplug everything including any front panel usb plugs etc except for the front panel power switch and the motherboard/psu/fan power, and the GPU if your motherboard/cpu does not have an iGPU. Use the motherboard display output if so.
If it boots. Add devices one at a time.
If it does not boot … it’s a bad PSU.
Make sure you’re using the correct outputs on the PSU if it’s modular.
