I have seven 2.5 hdd holding 8tb of anime. I’m sick of looking for a show and realize I downloaded it 3x Already to 3 drives. So I’m thinking of putting all on 1 big 16tb drive. 16tb Exos x16 for 160$, or ironwolf pro for 200$

Reliability?

Is your issue a problem of organization?

Are you just randomly downloading things and just dropping them anywhere?

Is your goal to be able to find what you have already downloaded, or to just have a massive space where you can dump anything?

I would highly recommend investing in a NAS or even a DAS which has been set up with RAID 5 or similar. You can set this up yourself using something like TrueNAS or UnRaid and an old computer. The advantage of having a RAID setup is if one drive fails you don’t lose everything and you can just replace the dead drive and allow the data to be repopulated.

I’ve been using a Synology 8 bay NAS for almost 10 years and had one drive fail which I replaced without losing any data. That said having a 16TB drive as your primary drive and then having the other drives setup in a RAID configuration as a backup for the other drive is the better option as it will allow for backups should the 16TB crash.

Nas 4bay or 3bay, use Plex Media Server, its mostly free on all Nas Systems. Plex App on Smarphone or Smart TV, there you Go. Dont forget to do a 3-2-1 Backup of your Data. Nas is Not a Backup
