Perfect monitor ruined by cats. Is there any way to minimize the damage? The scratches are not deep. The monitor is the oled g8 and the screen I think is glass. I don’t how the cats could scratch glass which makes me believe that it might be the coating or something el. The screen still smooth.
Trim your cat’s nails.
cover is easiest.
you can get double sided sticky tape and put around monitor, cats dont like it and will learn to stay away.
cat deterrent spray… idk how well it would work on wood, but maybe spraying on a washcloth leaving near monitor until behavior is modified.
it also wouldnt be too difficult, to set up a camera and have the computer make a sound when ever the cat jumps on desk… with just simple motion detection, dont even have to get too complicated.
No. Once a screen loses it’s material it’s gone. It isn’t like a scratch on a car you can bufffer out.
Live with it or replace it. Keep your kitties under control!
My cats scratched my TV and I used 100% petroleum jelly (Vaseline) to cover it up. The scratches are there but they’re hard to spot. Just take a bit on your finger, gently rub it on the scratch and polish the smalear with a microfiber cloth
There are a few things you can do, but they all involve some amount of risk. You might be able to buff the scratch out with a fine abrasive like toothpaste or baking soda applied with a microfibre cloth. You’re not really removing the scratch so much as sanding down jagged edges.
And that’s only of this is smooth glass. If there’s any sort of coating or etched texture on the glass, I wouldn’t bother.
Here’s 2 total shots in the dark- I have not tried them. 1- get some automotive ceramic coating good for glass. 2- you might get something useful from windshield repair kits.
Replace the cats
