I keep losing this post so will try again. I have had to create a media tool to reinstall windows on my pc. I also have a surface laptop with windows 11. However the windows 10 on my pc went wrong. Instead of creating a windows 10 tool i created a windows 11 one, it has worked but will it now take the settings and license away from my laptop instead? should i have installed windows 10 first on my pc?

    Nah, Windows licenses are paired to the hardware except for corporate settings, so in your case, the Windows 11 installer should automatically detect that there’s a valid Windows 10 license for your PC and use that (they’re treated as the same right now for home use). There is no way for the Windows 11 license in your Surface to “leave” since it’s an OEM license.
