I’m switching from FL studio. So, I’ve made an electronic track. Now My project sample rate is 48khz and during the export drop down I see higher sample rates and I chose 96khz. Now, i did this with bit of headroom so that I would master this separately and i was encountered with a question of what sample rate should the project be at this stage and seeing this, I’ve got some questions.

  1. During the initial export i mentioned, does the track truly export in 96khz or just the 48khz file resampled to 96khz where there is no change in quality?
  2. If I load a 96khz file in a project with 48khz set as sample and choose resample to project settings then, when i export the track to 96khz again like for example a bit of loudness mastering, will the original 96khz track be used or the resampled 48khz in the final export?

I hope y’all understand what i mean because things are different in terms of export settings in FL studio and i need some clarification in this. Tnx in adv.

    1. There’s a check box in the render settings: you can either render at the project rate then convert to the target rate, or render at the target rate. I urge caution with the second option however: some plugins sound different at higher rates, and not necessarily better.
    2. Not sure what you mean by ‘choose to resample’: Reaper just does that automatically right? Anyway, if a clip is being converted to the project rate, and then the project rate changes to match it, Reaper will simply stop converting that clip.
