A couple times, I’ve had my PC cut off in the middle of gaming, then immediately boot again. The fans didn’t even spin down. At first I thought this may be PSU related, but I found it odd that it immediately came back up like that without even triggering the relay in the PSU.

I ran Furmark + 7zip benchmark to stress the system for a while, and it worked just fine with temps stable in the 70s-80s on the CPU/GPU.

On a hunch, I went and disconnected the Reset switch on my case, since the behavior seemed oddly similar to pushing it.

But I’ve been coming back to my PC having rebooted (I keep it on all the time), and sure enough, there were some more sudden reboot events in the event log: https://i.imgur.com/9IXtMMt.png

Not sure where to start looking. I made sure all the connections inside the PC were secure, and I jiggled the power connections at the wall and power strip without losing power. Worried I might end up having to get a new motherboard if this keeps happening…

    I think it’s 2 things:

    • (most likely) PSU is ready for a swap
    • Shorts, is something touching the mobo pins? Are the CPU coolers metal fins touching the GPU? Are the front panel headers bad? 100 reasons, but you get the gist of it.
