My Lenovo ThinkPad E570, which uses two SSDs, is still just as fast as it was out of the box. It’s been dropped a few times over the years (such as getting knocked off of a TV tray), but the only noticeable internal damage is the loss of its Bluetooth module, which I’ve simply tolerated ever since.
Other than its lack of BT (and obviously its terrible battery by now; I’m always AC-plugged), everything about it is perfectly fine, but I guess I feel like I dread the day when it may suddenly just stop working for whatever reason, and am wondering about whether I should buy a new laptop preemptively. How old could a Win10 Home last?
If you do replace it before it dies I’ll take it as it’s an upgrade to my beat up 12 year old Gateway NV55S running Linux on a mechanical hdd that I’m using right now.
I had to add additional screws and probably will need to add some plates to shore up some breakage it had over the years. Not pretty but it still pulls up reddit and most other webpages okay.
and i’ll take your gateway, as it would be a massive upgrade to my 2023 edition Kindle Paperwhite
