Hey guys, this just started happening and I can’t seem to even figure out what the problem is. When my ASUS ROG STRIX Laptop shuts down upon restart I reach a blue recovery screen no error code, or it simply black screens, but from the recovery screen here I was able to boot into safe mode, now I am stumped as to what I do next to fix my problem. Could you guys help me with my next step?
Yesterday, upon unplugging and replugging what I assumed to be the CMOS battery it booted up normally and I was able to use it, then upon shutdown the issue started again, so I did the same with the CMOS and it simply went to the blue recovery screen again. This makes me think the CMOS may be faulty, this is a like 5.5 year old laptop.
If you can boot into safe mode with networking, download DDU to clean out gpu drivers and then redownload them.
But these blue screen issues can be caused by a dead or dying CMOS battery as well, so you should replace that if reinstalling drivers doesn’t fix. After 5.5 years its possible its going out. Since it worked normally when you first took it out but then went back to not working, its probably on its last legs in terms of a charge.
