Is it possible for me to record 64 channel multitrack live performance directly to external usb 3.0 hdd? Or there are limitations in how much channel i can record simultaneously.

In term of just read write. 64tracks is a walk in the park for most ssds. Audio doesn’t have anywhere ear the read/write deman of video. Most ssds can handle hundreds of simultaneous tracks
it will probably depend on the power of your computer if you can do 64 channels at once. I would also think there would be latency depending on what your I/O can achieve ?
