Hey y’all,
I’ve been paying for 1,200 mbps via Xfinity and noticed our internet sucks from time to time. I use the equipment they gave me cause I had no idea my own would be better until browsing some threads on here.
A fiber company (Fidium) just ran a line through my backyard and are much cheaper too, so thinking about switching. They have plans for 50mbps-2gigs
What kind of mbps should I need? Should I use their equipment or get my own?
I also read that you should hardwire devices rather than WiFi but how the heck do I do that if I’m in a two story without having cables all over the place?
thats what hardwired means. Wires all over the place
jokes aside, usually people fit network cabling inside walls or the roof, optionally you can fix it on the wall somewhere its not so visible
There are some powerline adapters that send internet through your ac mains wiring but its not going to give you anywhere near 2gbps speed LOL.
First you need to check what speed you need. You don’t need cabling for 100mbps internet with 3 or 4 clients watching youtube on phones. But if you want multi-gig speeds, cablings are a must.
