Hi all,

I used to use the HALion sonic SE3 plugin in my REAPER projects. I think I got the plugin and a bunch of sounds when I downloaded Cubase. I’m not sure if I purchased them independently or they came with Cubase.

I was using the VST sounds labelled “GM”, which I think stands for General MIDI. In the GUI, they appear under the instrument set labelled “HALion Sonic SE Basic”. As stated in the title, I cannot for the life of me find where to get these files again.

Windows did some reset bullshit and it jumbled my personal files, and this has been a real pain point for me the last few days. I can’t recreate any of my old REAPER projects because I used these VST sounds heavily in them. I went into the Download manager, and there’s so many packages with different names. “HALion Sonic SE 3 - Content”, “Content HALion Sonic 3” (30 GB), etc and I tried all of them and none of them restore the VST sounds that correspond to those instruments.

I get the error “Some audio files are missing. Please check installation”, and I know that they are supposed to go in C:\ProgramData\Steinberg\Content\HALion\VST Sound, but I don’t know where to get the files themselves.

If anyone knows where I can get these files, stuff like

[GM 041] Violin

[GM 001] Acoustic Grand Piano

etc…

It would save my life right now. Please help!

I just got on support and fixed the issue. I had to move my VST content out of C drive and reinstall media bay. I’m not sure which of those 2 was the correct fix.
