Okay so that title is kind of a lie but i’m very upset. I bought a $1600 computer and I can barely run spiderman remastered, it stuters constantly. I have had this computer since 2020 or 2021 I don’t remember but I feel like I should be able to run minecraft modpacks without worrying they are going to lag to much. Granted I am very much dumb when it comes to PC’s so maybe i’m completely missing something, could anyone help?
My specs:
Processor: Intel Core i7-10700F CPU @ 2.90GHz
Installed RAM: 16.0 GB (15.8 GB usable)
operating system: Windows 11
Video card: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060
again i have no clue what im talking about so please dont make fun of me i just wanna be able to play games.
We’ll need some more information OP to help you out but you should be able to run Spider-Man Remastered at medium/high setting without ray tracing at 60 FPS with that setup. I am a generation above you (i7-11700K and RTX 3070ti) and could run the game at 1440p at 80 FPS consistently so you should be fine with your hardware.
Also don’t listen to the people saying Windows 11 is the issue; it’s a great gaming OS.
Did you buy this computer new or used? If it was used, did you do a full reinstall of Windows after you received the machine? If not, I recommend doing a reset. Go to your settings then Windows Update then the Reset option and just do a full reset of the OS.
Do you have updated graphics drivers installed? If you’re not sure, right click on the desktop, then choose more options, then choose Nvidia Control Panel, then click the home button and look at the version number of the driver. Now go to GeForce.com/drivers and do a manual search for your setup and compare the current driver version to what you have installed. Do not install the GeForce Experience, it’s bloatware that will make games run like shit. I just do a manual search for new drivers every 2-4 weeks and install a new driver if available.
Other things you can try in game: cap your framerate to 60 FPS. Turn off ray tracing, that game has a memory leak issue with ray tracing on that makes it run like crap after about 30 minutes of playing. I had to turn off RT with my machine to make it run well.
Make sure Windows is fully updated as well. Many people will tell you to ignore Windows updates but don’t listen to them. It’s vital you keep the OS updated.
If that stuff doesn’t help, there could be some hardware issues. If you are playing the game on an older, slower hard drive that can definitely cause issues with stuttering as it’s an open world game loading in assets as you play. If you have an old spinny hard drive, look into replacing it with a solid state or M.2 drive.
Just from your initial post you should be fine running the game so those are a few things to look for! PC gaming is the best, I made the switch from console gaming about 13 years ago and don’t plan on ever going back to consoles. Don’t let one bad experience ruin it for you! Plus you get to learn how to troubleshoot PCs which is very satisfying.
