So this is my first post on reddit. This is an app I have been thinking about creating for MacBook Techs, enthusiasts and hobbyist or simply DIY tech minded.
Since I create apps for Android I was thinking of making a MacBook Pocket Guide app for android. It would consist of all the models with information pertaining to each model (i.e., specs on OS, upgrades hardware and software). With guides on how to over come certain scenarios.
I was just wondering how many MacBook Techs are there? Do you primarily lean towards Windows repair more than Macbooks?
Would a pocket guide be helpful to Techs? I know it’s frustrating having a MacBook A1278 model with an i5 processor with a 1TB SSD and only have the option to update to Catalina. (my current MacBook pro).
Prices for MacBook Pro laptops are ridiculously priced compared to windows. In my opinion MacBook are easy to work on. Others say they are pain. So How Many fellow repair Techs are on here that repairs Macs and would an app like this be helpful in a repair situation to you as a tech?
However, sometimes Rabbi Google doesn’t give you straight answers. YouTube University lacks a lot of information as well. So what are your thoughts?
Well if you come out with a ridiculous statement about MacBook laptops being ridiculously priced compared to windows laptops then you are not gonna be believed in anything else you say.
You’re not comparing similar products nor are you taking into account the superior support Apple provides.
In any case I’d ask in one of the Apple subs. And frankly all the info is easily available online.
The pricing goes for repairing the macbook compared to windows. This app would be more toward the people who repair, flip or the ones that doesn’t have Apple Care or what not on there macbook.
but the price is ridiculous to pay for a high end MacBook to get a few years use out of it then it’s obsolete because of the year. Like seriously? my macbook has good specs and it can only update to Catalaina, but the MacBook with the sane specs made in 2022 can run Ventura. That just makes no sense. Windows is hardware based. as long as the hardware is good you can run any OS on windows.
you mentioned Apple support. Ok not everyone has Apple support. Not everyone can afford Apples Repair Prices… Trust me I now. I repair Macbooks and Windows all day long. So your statement about the Apple Support is not valid. Call Apple and try to get support on a macbook out of warranty. It’s dam near impossible and if you do the repair cost is gonna be so high you can go buy a Gaming Windows Laptop.
