Same situation here
Open channel settings and add your inserts like normal. Then click the “routing” tab which is next to “inserts”. For the inserts you don’t want to be on both channels, set it to “mono” and in the routing editor click the arrow left or right to chose where the signal goes 👍
I have a 9700k ddr4 system that started feeling sluggish a few months ago. Physically cleaned the insides and fans = lower temps and performance is back
If you for no reason other than being a nerd want to try a really convoluted and fun way of doing it you can insert an EQ plugin of choice on only the left channel as an insert, on a stereo channel. Many people don’t know of that Cubase function :)
I use bitwig and Cubase, Cubase has total flexibility and customisation abilities over workflow and efficiency related little things throughout the whole application that bitwig won’t be even close to match in the next ten years (actually judging by how their updates have actually looked over the last few years). Bitwig on the other hand has flexibility with all the things you already know; sound design and the overall modular environment. You won’t be able to modulate any parameter in Cubase with LFOs, envelopes or other triggers. But at least as of the most recent update Cubase now can route audio from track to track for recording (but not to audio “devices” as in bitwig - at all). Bitwigs downside for me is also that I can’t sit and work with that all day, there are just too many basic mixer features (or other) missing completely. You can’t even do simple things such as turning on and off inserts on a channel or edit several channel settings simultaneously. Cubase also is nicer to look at. And the lack of sort of “modern source and destination modularity” is solved with just using a plugin like Infiltrator for example, imho.
I used Cubase for a long ass time and still do, but I also used bitwig alot and I think I’d recommend you that. Note that bitwig is actually quite an expensive daw. Each full version update is like 100€, so for that price there is a serious lack of normal functions. But it’s easier and more intuitive/fun to jam out beats than cubase for sure, no question about that.
Not happening on my win11 system and regarding the new “quit Cubase” function button, amazing. Finally I can quit the application properly without it hanging half the time like in c12 and 11.
If tempo is detected properly, in theory you just need to have a tempo track active and have the clips set to musical mode
